Okay, this story is thoroughly intriguing to me.  I really need to know just what kind of campaign platform this person could possibly have put together that convinced voters from a state I don't ordinarily think of as being among the dumber ones that she is anything but the out and out nutjob she is.  Holy crap!!!

There are some serious whackjobs in the Twin Cities suburbs, though there are also a lot of somewhat reasonable Republicans who did not at that time realize what a nutter Bachmann is.

Last summer there was a rally/march in favor of GLBT equality and protection at the state capitol. Michelle Bachmann literally hid in the bushes trying to spy on the group and try to figure out how to have them all arrested. There were pictures published in the Star Tribune of her skulking around in the dirt.

She's only up 4 in her latest poll against Tinklenberg, and after being featured on DailyKos yesterday there were about $32,000 worth of donations to his campaign. I would pay good money to see this lunatic's reaction to being thrown out on her ass.

Minneapolis-St. Paul surprised me, too, with the local police cracking down on protesters during the Republican convention. Even journalists were arrested and jailed, although I never learned of this until well after the convention was over.

She's been doing a great job bringing financial support to her opponent Elwyn Tinklenburg though. Not everyone can spur $450,000 to be rounded up nationwide in 24 hours.

Weird how eight years ago the Republican message was "being a uniter, not a divider" and now the message is "real America" vs. "fake America" or "unAmerica." Is divisiveness in low electoral college states a common strategy? Are there plans afoot to create separate dominions for states w/ large urban areas and states mostly populated by small towns?
