| Bio: | I am Joel Sherman, a former World (1997) and North American (2002) Champion of English language tournament Scrabble. I also play rock and a few show tunes on my 45-year-old upright Baldwin piano and 20-year-old Kurzweil electronic keyboard, and sing loudly while doing that. I am not a warm and fuzzy individual. I don't tolerate or respond to dimwits who just want to chat so they can claim they know me. I do have strong emotional responses to situations and characters in movies, while I am not as moved by the same things occurring to real people in real life. That's because there is so much horror, ugliness and blatant stupidity in real life that I have to numb myself to it in order to avoid feeling suicidal because I am so powerless to effect sufficient universal change to eliminate those things. I will not be using all the bells and whistles that the kids love about this site, or the icons. You may assume that if I am writing here, my mood is pissed off enough about something too controversial for me to rant about it in other forums to which I subscribe.
